Do Large Parapelvic Renal Cyst Develop CKD

2013-04-27 16:09

To know whether large parapelvic renal cyst can develop into CKD, we need first know what is CKD and what is parapelvic renal cyst.

Parapelvic renal cyst mean there is one or several fluid-filled sacs in the renal pelvis area. The cyst will continue to grow larger and larger along with time. When it is larger than 3cm and begins to cause a series of symptoms and discomforts, it is called large parapelvic renal cyst.

CKD stands for chronic kidney disease and it can be caused by a variety of kidney problems such as glomerulonephritis, nephropyelitis, lupus nephritis, purpura nephritis, gouty kidney disease, IgA nephropathy, membrane nephropathy, nephrotic syndrome, diabetic nephropathy, hypertensive nephropathy, PKD, etc.

Renal parapelvic cyst is not a very common cause of CKD and in most cases kidney functions will not be affected. However, if patients do not pay enough attention in their daily life, the cyst may experience rapid growth or even cause many severe conditions such as cyst rupture, cyst bleeding, etc. In such conditions, renal functions will be affected or even experience sharp decline. When effective glomerular filtration rate is less than 60%, it is called CKD in clinic.

The good thing is that the progression of parapelvic renal cyst into CKD is usually very slow. Effective and timely treatment can much slow the illness progression, protect kidney functions and prevent its progression into CKD.

Surgeries have quick and obvious relief for renal parapelvic cyst patients, but it can not solve the root problem. Cyst often recurs after a period of time and the relapse often worsen renal damages. What is more, surgery has definite harms and injuries to the patient’s kidney.

Osmotherapy of Chinese medicines can not remove the cyst, but it can act on more root problem to shrink the cyst and block the secretion of more cyst fluids so as to treat the disease more effectively and naturally.
