Stages of Polycystic Kidney DiseaseEvery disease has its own progression process if left untreated. Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is no exception. In clinic, PKD is divided into five stages according to the growth of cysts. Doctors give the proper treatments based on the stage of polycystic kidney disease. Now, let’s see what are the five stages of polycystic kidney disease.

Stage 1: Emergency period

Polycystic kidney disease is inherited, and normally people are born with renal cysts. Yet, the cysts are too small to be diagnosed. For people who are less than 20 years old, they generally cannot find this. If you have a family history of PKD, you should have a test as soon as possible so as to prevent the cysts from enlarging effectively.

Stage 2: Growth period

At this stage, normally between 30-40 years old, people will find that renal cysts grow faster than before. More strict observation and timely treatment are needed. Doctors generally take measures based on what symptoms occur in patients. However, these treatments are not so effective because they are not treating the kidneys. Chinese herbs are more natural and have the active ingredients that can improve kidney function. Therefore, if you want to delay or stop the growth of renal cysts, you may as well try Chinese herbs.

Stage 3:Enlarging period

It refers that the period between the size of 4cm and its rupturing size of kidney cysts. People who reach 40 years old may experience some symptoms such as flank pain, proteinuria, hematuria or high blood pressure, and so on. At this stage, surgery may be taken to drain the fluids in the cysts. Yet, surgery also has a limited effect since it cannot stop the secretion of cystic fluids. You can also get help from us.

Stage 4: Rupturing period

If renal cysts keep on growing and ruptures, hospitalization is required immediately. It is also very important to prevent patients from getting cystic infection, sepsis or acute kidney failure.

Stage 5: Uremia

This is the end stage and patients will be recommended to take dialysis or kidney transplant.
