Frequent Urination At Night Due To PKD
Polycystic kidney disease can cause frequent urination throughout the day and night and this is especially common during the night. Patients often find it very annoying because they have to get up in the middle of the night frequently, about 3-4 time at night even though when they have no urine in the bladder.
In the early stage of PKD, kidney functions can be normal and patients can have no obvious clinical symptoms. With the continuous increase and enlargement of renal cysts in both kidneys, normal renal tissues can be replaced and renal functions will be gradually impaired. In the early stage of renal damages, it is the renal tubules that are first impaired and there will be decline in renal concentrating ability and the manifestation is increase urine output and frequent urination at nights.
Some patients may think that reducing fluid intake can help reduce the frequency of urination at night, but this can not help that much. On the contrary, it is not good for PKD patients to limit water intake. They need to have more water so as to help flush more wastes from the kidneys, reduce kidney stones and urinary tract infections.
The root cause of frequent urination at night is loss of renal functions due to continuously enlarged renal cysts. Most PKD patients can have normal renal functions between 40-60 years old. Once renal functions begin to decline, GFR (glomerular filtration rate) will experience a continuous decline at the rate of about 4.4-5.5ml/min and it takes about 10 years to progress into end stage renal disease since the impairment of renal functions.
Frequent urination at night is the sign of damages of renal functions, therefore timely and effective treatment should be sought to help prevent further loss of kidney functions. Frequent urination is often accompanied by urinary urgency and urinary pain, blood in urine, back pain, fever, fatigue, etc. When the oppression state in the kidneys can be relieved and when renal functions can be improved, urinary frequency can be eased.
Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy can help shrink renal cysts, eliminate blood stasis, promote blood circulation and increase blood flow to the kidneys so as to help repair and regenerate new renal functioning tissues and enhance kidney functions. When renal concentrating function is recovered, urinary frequency can be much relieved.
