PKD, the abbreviation of Polycystic Kidney Disease, is a genetic kidney problem with various symptoms, so you are at extremely high risk to suffer from this disease if you have parents suffering from it. With PKD gene, we need to pay attention to our kidney and PKD symptoms, so that we can have a timely diagnosis and treatment.

Common symptoms of PKD go as follow:

1. Lower back pain/ Flank pain: PKD is a kidney disorder marked by a cluster of cysts in the kidney. These cysts are fluid-filled and enlarge over time. When the cysts enlarge to a certain size and pull renal capsule, leading to the pain in the location of kidney. Also, PKD causes kidney stone and kidney infection easily, which also can give rise to kidney pain.

2. Blood urine: blood urine is clinically called hematuria which is diagnosed when there are excessive red blood cells in urine. For PKD patients, rupture of big kidney cyst can cause blood in urine directly. In such a case, blood urine usually disappear within one week.

3. High blood pressure: High blood pressure is a common symptom of kidney disease, not only PKD, because kidneys are responsible for adjusting blood pressure. When kidney function is affected by these cysts, blood pressure increases. In PKD cases, a tight control of blood pressure will help to slow down the prognosis of illness condition.

4. Frequent Urinary Tract Infection (UTI): With urinary tract infection, you may have symptoms like painful urination, frequent and intense urges to urinate, pain in the lower belly or back and so on. Antibiotic is helpful for dealing with UTI in Polycystic Kidney Disease.

5. Protein in urine: In normal cases, protein can not pass through glomerular filtration membrane, a kidney tissue. However, when this membrane is damaged because of PKD, protein leak out and proteinuria is formed. With proteinuria symptom, you may found there are lots of bubbles in your urine.

The above are the common symptoms of PKD in early stage and with the progression of it, these symptoms will become more and more serious. And also, aside from them, you may suffer from some other health problems like enlarged kidney, fatigue, renal anemia and so on. These symptoms usually occur when PKD runs to an advanced stage, so the best method to prevent them is to stop the progression of Polycystic Kidney Disease.
