Diarrhea is a common complication of dialysis. It can cause weakness and dehydration and stop you from doing your daily activity. What possible causes can lead to diarrhea in a dialysis patient?
There are many possible causes of diarrhea in a dialysis patient. It includes the following factors:
1. Food allergies or food poisoning
Allergies to milk foods can cause diarrhea. Bacteria from spoiled food can also lead to diarrhea.
2. Medications/ antibiotics
Kidney failure patients usually need to take various medications. When people take these medications or antibiotics can wipe out the good bacteria in your intestine, which can cause diarrhea. Some medications also have some side effects and diarrhea is one of the side effects. Diarrhea may be caused by mixing with other medicines.
3. Low parathyroid levels
Vitamin D use or removing the parathyroid glands can give very low PTH levels in some kidney disease patients. At this condition, diarrhea can also occur.
4. Diabetes
Kidney disease patients have diabetes as a complication. Diarrhea can also happen. Diabetes can cause slow movement of food through the intestine. This can cause diarrhea to grow, causing diarrhea. In addition, sugar-free foods and medicine contain Sorbitol, which can cause diarrhea.
5. Spicy foods
We know dialysis patients usually follow a low salt diet. Thus, they use spices to make food less bland. Food containing capsicum or other spices can cause diarrhea.
6. High calcium levels
Dialysis patients usually consume high calcium levels to alleviate their bone problems. High calcium levels can lead to poor fat absorption, which can lead to diarrhea.
Dialysis can cause diarrhea. If you want to get rid of it, you have to avoid dialysis or at least reduce the frequency of dialysis duration by repairing injured kidneys and improving renal function. How to repair impaired kidneys and improve kidney function, we use Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy. This therapy can expand blood vessels, preventing inflammation and coagulation, degrade extracellular matrix and provide necessary nutrients. Gradually kidney function can be improved to some extent. Dialysis frequency can be reduced or even be avoided.
