Dialysis is a common remedy for kidney failure. It can do some help for kidney disease but dialysis will also cause some side effects. Low blood pressure is one of the complications in dialysis. Well, what are the causes and treatments for low blood pressure in dialysis?
1. Causes of low blood pressure
Discharge water from your body improperly such as fluid removal too fast, too much fluid removal or fluid removal lower than dry body weight
Vasoconstriction obstacles will lead to decreased blood pressure.
Due to heart dysfunction or arrhythmia, it will cause insufficient effective blood volume to your body. During dialysis, patients with heart disease are easy to suffer from low blood pressure.
Bad physical condition such as fever, sweating, poor sleep or inadequate dietary intake can all cause low blood pressure.
Anemia like renal anemia, ischemia of your whole body, decreased heart function and reduced myocardial contractility all decreases blood pressure.
Hypotensive drugs inhibit vasoconstriction. For example, before dialysis, patients take hypotensive drugs, which will result in low blood pressure.
2. Treatments for low blood pressure
Fluid removal by hemodialysis should not be too fast.
Generally before dialysis, patients should not take hypotensive drugs or reduce the dosage of hypotensive medications.
Anemia should be alleviated timely.
During dialysis, patients should avoid sitting suddenly, which will make blood flow downwards and ischemia of heart and brain. In this condition, blood pressure will decrease.
Except for prevention for low blood pressure, dialysis patients also need to repair kidney damage and improve renal function. When kidney function is improved, dialysis frequency can be reduced or even be avoided. Complications of dialysis can be alleviated radically and naturally. Low blood pressure will disappear radically.
