What Is the Relationship Between Heart And Kidney DietPatients with kidney disease can have heart disease and arteriosclerosis. This is because kidney has difficulty in removing wastes and toxins from body, leading to retention of wastes, high blood pressure, anemia and ischemia. In this way, heart disease can be resulted in the long term. Kidney diet has much to do with heart, too. Here we will mostly explain it.

For patients with kidney disease and heart disease, they are recommended to follow the below suggestions:

1. protein

Animal protein contains saturated fat that is beneficial for our heart. But as is known, patients with kidney disease should limit protein in daily life because much protein can put pressure on kidney. Considering heart factor, patients with kidney disease who are on dialysis should have more protein food.

2. sodium

Much sodium or salt in body does harm to heart and kidney both. Thus, patients should have a low salt diet and avoid high sodium food.

3. phosphorus

High phosphorus can imbalance electrolyte and increase the risk of cardiovascular problems. Low intake of phosphorus is good for heart and kidney. However, some food containing rich phosphorus like nuts, chocolate, dry beans which are beneficial to heart should be avoided.

4. potassium

Rich potassium food like fruits, milk and yogurt are mostly healthy for heart. But kidney disease makes kidney build up in body, leading to high potassium level. Limiting potassium is very necessary.

5. fat

Much fat can increase cholesterol level, aggravating high blood pressure. This is very harmful for kidney and heart.

6. sugar

Much sugar elevates high blood sugar level, worsening heart and kidney condition. Patients should have a low sugar diet.

As for how much the above should be eaten, it depends on specific conditions of patients. You can email your condition to pkdtreatment169@gmail.com or leave a message. We will give you a reply as soon as possible.
