Patients with kidney disease can have many symptoms, like protein in urine, swelling, fatigue, anemia and high blood pressure. To reduce these symptoms, strict limitation on diet is very necessary. We will mainly talking about the limitation on meat and eggs.
Can we eat meat and eggs without limit?
There is much useful nutrition in meat and eggs. One egg contains 6g protein and 50g lean meat contains 8g protein. So much protein in meat and eggs, can we eat them without limit? No, you can’t. Patients can take in moderate protein because of much protein was removed out of body. Patients can eat a few hundred grams lean meat and few egg whites everyday.
Which kind of meat we can eat and which we should not eat?
Patients can eat few lean meat, fish and chicken everyday but not too much. Fat meat is not allowed because it can worsen hyperlipemia. Patients also should not eat egg yolk, animal giblets and seafood, which are rich in phosphorus. By the way, we all know that soy food contains protein, but patients with kidney disease can’t eat soy food, because the protein in bean has poor quality.
