A Complete Collection of Kidney DiseaseThis time we are talking about the common kidney diseases for people in daily life, hoping you can pay attention to and prevent these.

Acute kidney failure

Kidney failure can happen on people very suddenly sometimes. In this case, we call it acute kidney failure. The causes of acute kidney failure are due to kidney infection, or damage. Dialysis can be helpful for acute kidney failure, and after dialysis for some times, kidney function will revive.

Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome

AHUS is a genetic disorder, which is very rare. It is very harmful and life threatening. In this case, immune system is out of control, and become very positive, making cells in body get attacked. Finally, blood vessels will be impaired, organs can be damaged, causing many serious problems.

Alport Syndrome

Alport Syndrome (AS) is alos a genetic disorder of the basement membranes in kidney, eye and ear. People who inherit defective genes for the "collagen" proteins in these basement membranes are likely to lose kidney function, listening ability and eye sight.

Compatibility of blood and tissue

For transplant, the donor must be compatible with the recipient. If the donor’s blood group is compatible with the recipient’s, a second blood test called tissue typing is done. This test will be sure if the donor and recipient have the genetic similarities to assure the possiblity of a successful transplant.

Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD)

Form of peritoneal dialysis in which dialysis fluid is exchanged at regular intervals throughout the 24-hour day.

End-stage renal disease (ESRD)

In this situation, dialysis or kidney transplant is always suggested for patients with stage 5 kidney failure. Kidney function is lost more than 85%. Many serious complications occur, such as heart disease, cardiovascular problems, bone problems which are very life threatening.

Glomerulonephritis

Glomerulonephritis (nephritis) means there is inflammation in kidney glomerulus, or filters. And inflammation can be very serious so that the filters get destroyed, leading to kidney failure. Glomerulonephritis is caused by disease in immune system whereby it mistakenly attacks the kidneys’ filters. Many kinds of glomerulonephritis exist actually. For example, there is a condition known as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS)

Commonly referred to as "Hamburger Disease", HUS is very commonly seen in warm months, following a gastrointestinal illness caused primarily by a particular strain of bacteria known as E.coli 0157:H7. This bacteria are connected with consumption of undercooked ground beef (hence, "Hamburger Disease"), unpasteurized milk and cheese, cold cuts, hot dogs, chicken, pork, lamb, and contaminated water sources. People with all ages are at risk, but young children and the elderly are at higher risk for more severe symptoms.

Kidney failure

Gradual decline of kidney function, which is divided into five stage.

Kidney cancer

Kidney cancer develops in the nephrons – the tiny tubes of the kidney that filter blood and produce urine. Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most leading element for kidney cancer, and is considered advanced when the cancer has metastasized, or spread, beyond the primary cancer site. Smoking, hypertension, obesity can result in kidney cancer.

Medullary Sponge Kidney (MSK)

A rare congenital disorder that affects the tubules of the kidney through which urine normally flows. In MSK, tiny sacs called cysts form in the innermost part of the kidney, keeping urine from flowing freely and creating a sponge-like appearance. MSK is possible to result in blood in urine, kidney stones, and urinary tract infections. Symptoms may begin at any age but usually develop during adolescence or between the ages of 30 and 50 years. It happens on more females than males.

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD)

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) means numberous cysts grow in kidney, which can grow and enlarge. In this way, surrounding tissues and organs can be damaged. Kidney failure is very likely to happen. The chance is more than 50%.
