TWO SIMPLE TESTS TO CHECK FOR KIDNEY DISEASEThis time we will mostly introduce two simple tests to check for kidney disease. Nowadays, risk of developing kidney disease is higher and higher in the world. Doing tests of kidney disease can help us find it early, then we can get timely treatment to prevent deterioration into end stage kidney disease. Symptoms like swelling or anemia, weakness do not occur until kidney disease progresses into stage 3 kidney disease. Therefore, it is important for us to doing kidney disease test in daily life.

The first one is Albuminuria-to-creatinine ratio (ACR).

Albuminuria describes that much albumin which is a kind of protein is in the urine. For healthy people, there is little albumin in urine, because glomerular filtration membrane stops big substances like protein passing through with urine. In this way, if albuminuira occurs, kidney must be damaged. Creainine means serum creatinine, and the normal range of creatinine is 0.5-1.2 mg/dl. If creatinine elevates, it means kidney has a hard time removing excessive creatinine from body through urine.

This test is very effective to judge how well kidney function is and if there is kidney impair.

Second, Glomerular filtration rate9(GFR).

GFR means that how much blood can be filtered within one minute by two kidneys. In normal situation, GFR is 80-120ml/min. if it is lower than 60, it is very likely that there is kidney disease.

If people or family have diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease, they are more possible to get kidney disease. Thus, they should try to prevent kidney disease in daily life with a healthy diet and lifestyle.
