End stage renal failure is also commonly caused ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) which is the worst kidney condition. In ESRD, due to the dysfunction of kidneys, we will face lots of abnormalities. Well, what are the signs of end stage renal failure?
Kidney plays a vital role for a healthy body. It helps to regulate blood pressure, purify blood, secrete hormone and maintain electrolyte balance. When kidneys fail to work properly, we might have problems in any part of our body. Here, we will introduce the most common signs of end stage renal failure.
Frothy urine
Frothy urine is the manifestation of proteinuria which is the presence of excess protein in urine. In such a case, the froths in urine are very small and usually exist for a very long time. Tight control of this sign is very kidney-beneficial.
Swelling
With end stage renal failure, we may also experience swelling which is also commonly called edema. When we drink too much water, kidneys will help us remove excess fluid out of the body as urine. However, in ESRD, kidneys cannot play its role to maintain fluid balance, which presents as swelling. Fluid limitation is needed when this sign appears.
High blood pressure
High blood pressure is also called hypertension in some areas. It is one of the leading causes of end stage renal failure and also may present as a sign of it. Since persistent high blood pressure is very harmful for kidney, tight control of blood pressure is always needed.
Blood urine
Blood urine can also appear in ESRD and it is due to severe leakage of red blood cells in urine. Additional, blood urine is clinical called hematuria which does not certain mean the urine is bloody. Hematuria may present as tea-color, dark orange and rust color.
Gastrointestinal discomfort
The most common gastrointestinal discomfort in end stage renal failure includes poor appetite, nausea and vomiting. In some cases, diarrhea might also be caused.
Skin problems
Skin problem like dry skin, darken skin and itchy skin also can be the bothers in end stage renal failure.
Kidney is the natural filter of our body. It helps to remove toxic substances out of the body through urine, so when kidneys are failed, there will be high levels of toxins in blood, which is a very dangerous condition. At that time, any part of our body might be involved, and that is why there are various signs in end stage renal failure.
