3. High phosphorus foods like cheese, salmon, shellfish, nuts, low fat dairy, lentils, lean beef, dried fruit and pumpkin seeds and so on.
4. Spicy foods and fried foods.
What nutrition is needed by a PKD patient?
Nutrition supply is the basic for PKD patients to have a good recovery. Well, what is nutrition is needed by PKD patients?
1. High quality protein
High quality protein contains the kind of amino acid that be absorbed easily by our body. When protein is consumed in our body, waste of urea nitrogen will be produced and it needs to be excreted out of the body through kidney. High quality protein produces less wastes during the decomposition course, so it not only provide PKD patients with necessary nutrition, but also add less burden on kidney. This is the reason why high quality protein is recommended for PKD patients. In our daily life, high quality protein can be gained from lean meat, egg white, fish and milk and so on.
2. Fiber
Enlarged kidney and kidney cyst affect intestines and stomach, which may cause constipation. By having enough fiber, this condition can be avoided or alleviated effectively.
3. Vitamin
Vitamin is another essential nutrition for PKD patients. Due to strict diet limitation, many foods are not available for PKD patients and for this reason, PKD patients become lack of vitamin easily. Therefore, they need to eat more foods high in vitamin. Besides, if they fail to get enough vitamin through daily diet, they can take some vitamin supplements.
