Well, what are the things to avoid with Polycystic Kidney Disease?
1. Movements or physical exercises that may cause rupture of kidney cyst
As a Polycystic Kidney Disease patient, if the cysts in our kidneys are very large, we need to avoid movements that need us to twist our waist or physical exercises that may cause heavy knock on our kidney location, so as to avoid rupture of cyst. Rupture of kidney cyst always cause many terrible complications like kidney infection, peritonitis and quick deterioration of illness.
2. Salted foods
Salted foods like bacon, salted eggs and pickles are very common in our daily diet. However, due to impairment of kidney function, Polycystic Kidney Disease should avoid eating these foods, at least reduce the consumption of them.
3. High consumption of beer and wine
Beer is a good beverage in hot summer, but once being affected with Polycystic Kidney Disease, high beer consumption should be avoided, because alcohol can stimulate kidney cyst and cause quick enlargement of kidney cyst, which causes direct damage on residual kidney function. Therefore, Polycystic Kidney Disease patients need to avoid drinking too much beer and wine.
4. Cold and infection
Cold and infection are the leading two risky factors for Polycystic Kidney Disease patients. PKD is a chronic kidney problem and if controlled well, it needs decades to develop to kidney failure. However, as a PKD sufferer, if we catch cold and infection frequently, we will suffer from kidney failure earlier.
Polycystic Kidney Disease is a refractory illness, but not everyone will definitely live a poor life. In some cases, with scientific nursing care and timely diagnosis, it is possible for patients to live as well as a healthy people.
