In PKD, persistent high blood pressure is a common cause of dizziness or vertigo, but recently, some PKD patients complain they have dizzy spell, even their blood pressure is in normal range. Why is this?
Actually, high blood pressure is just one of the causes of dizzy spell in PKD. Besides it, the following conditions can also lead to dizziness:
-Anemia
We are more likely to suffer from anemia if we are PKD sufferer. Mild anemia might be asymptomatic, but if it becomes severe, we will experience dizziness, pale skin, leg cramps and insomnia.
-Malnutrition
PKD impairs kidney function. To protect residual kidney function, a strict diet limitation is needed, which usually needs patients to exclude many foods from dining-table. Long-term diet limitation may lead to malnutrition which can cause dizzy spell.
-Oral medicines
To bring illness under control, lots of medicines are needed. They are helpful, but if used for a long time, many of them will cause many side effects. Dizziness may appear as the side effect of a certain the medicine.
-Electrolyte disorder
Apart from cleansing blood, producing urine and secreting hormone, kidney also helps maintain electrolyte balance. When kidneys fail to function properly, electrolyte disturbance is caused easily, which also play contributing factor for dizzy spell.
If someone is experiencing dizzy spell and meanwhile his blood pressure is normal, he needs to put the above mentioned conditions into consideration to have a comprehensive analysis about illness condition, so as to find out the real cause and take appropriate measures.
