1. Cyst in kidney pull renal capsule which refers to the membrane of the surface of the kidney. There are nerves in renal capsule and when cysts in kidney enlarges, they will pull renal capsule and cause pain.

2. Polycystic Kidney Disease is accompanied with kidney stone easily and when stones suck in kidney, flank pain occurs.

3. Cyst in PKD enlarge over time and when they enlarge to a certain size, they rupture. Rupture of kidney cyst will make patients feel pain in the location of their kidney. In addition, with ruptured kidney cyst, patients may found they have blood in urine which usually disappear within one week.

4. In cases of PKD, kidney infection also can be a cause of flank pain. With PKD, patients will suffer from frequent urinary tract infection which can cause kidney infection. Besides, when big cyst in kidney ruptures, kidney infection may also occurs. Kidney infection is not life-threatening, but without proper management, it will accelerate PKD and make patients suffer from kidney failure earlier.
