Carbohydrates
Our body needs carbohydrates to supply energy to do things. Carbohydrates are very important for our health. If there is no energy in our body, our organs and systems can not work at all. Carbohydrates are categorized into : simple and complex carbohydrate. carbohydrate in fruit is simple carbohydrate, which contains energy, fiber and vitamin. Bread, grains, vegetables are considered as complex carbohydrate, which contains minerals, energy, fibers and vitamins.
Patients with chronic kidney disease should have some carbohydrates in daily life to supply energy to body. If there is diabetes, much carbohydrate can aggravate high blood sugar in blood, worsening diabetes.
Protein
Protein is very important for our body, which can influence muscle and tissues. Protein contains essential amino acid for our body. Much protein is contained in animals and dairy, milk, egg. Patients with chronic kidney disease should have a low protein diet in daily life, this is because much protein can put pressure on kidney, affecting kidney function. And proteinuria is very common for patients with CKD, so much protein can aggravate proteiuria. High protein is good for patients with CKD, because it produces little wastes when decomposed in body. Fish, egg, beef and lamb are good source of high protein. Patients should have some these food in daily life.
Fat
Fat is used to transmit vitamins A,D,E,K to parts of body. In addition, it can produce estrogen and testosterone. Patients with chronic kidney disease should keep some fat in diet, but much fat does harm to health, resulting in cardiovascular problems, high blood pressure and heart disease.
Fat has two kinds: the saturated which is from meat and dairy goods, the unsaturated which is in fish, nuts and certain oils. Much fat makes cholesterol level high. Unsaturated fat is good for patients with chronic kidney disease to lower cholesterol level. saturated fat should be avoided in daily life.
Sodium, potassium and phosphorus
