Kidney failure causes many symptoms and anemia is one of the symptoms. Anemia caused by kidney disease is called renal anemia. The main symptoms of anemia include nosebleed, gum bleeding, hemorrhage of digestive tract and hypermenorrhea. Well then, what are causes and treatment for anemia in kidney failure?
1. The causes of renal anemia
Kidneys secrete a substance which is responsible for producing red blood cells. This substance is called erythropoietin. However, when kidneys are damaged by various causes, there is an obvious decrease in erythropoietin.
In uremia, there are many toxins accumulating in the body, which will shorten the life span of red blood cells.
In kidney failure, due to coagulation disorders, patients usually have bleeding tendency. Gum bleeding, hemorrhage of digestive tract and hypermenorrhea will worsen anemia.
Anorexia, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea will cause malnutrition. Thus, there will be insufficient raw material for blood, especially blood, which will aggravate anemia.
2. Treatment for anemia in kidney failure
Limit protein intake so as to decrease nonprotein nitrogen content in blood and lighten kidney burden.
Control salt intake. If swelling is serious, salt should be avoided. If swelling is not so serious, patients can follow a low salt diet.
Kidney failure patients should consume more fruits and vegetables to ensure nutritional requirements. Patients with decreased urine output had better avoid high potassium foods.
Repair kidney damage. Renal damage is the main cause of anemia. In order to rectify anemia, the treatment should aim at repairing kidney damage and improving renal function. We recommend Chinese Medicine Treatment including Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Medicated Bath, Mai Kang Mixture, Acupoint Application and Enema Therapy, etc which have been proven to have better therapeutic effect in treating kidney failure. Anemia can be treated fundamentally.
